Timurlengia

A recently described tyrannosauroid from the early Late Cretaceous of what is now Uzbekistan. A well-preserved braincase shows that it had highly developed senses, including being able to hear at low frequencies. This may have played a part in communicating with other members of the species or tracking prey at long ranges. This could be part of what allowed tyrannosaurs as a group to become the dominant predators in their environments.
